This course is designed to provide an overview of World History. In this class we will begin by exploring early humans and the challenges they experienced creating societies. We will then be
studying the rise and fall of different empires, as well as significant wars and trade. There will also be a focus on revolutions and colonization that changed the world. Finally we will discuss the main events and problems of the 20th century. Throughout the year, the focus will be on eras with the most profound impact upon the present through their political institutions, economic activities, social structures, religious beliefs and practices, cultural achievements, and technological innovations. The course is also intended to develop students’ communication and reasoning skills through activities requiring reading, writing, oral presentation, group work, map and graph interpretation, and critical analysis of historical sources and artifacts.
